About Us

Bambu Nonprofit Strategies is an established consulting firm, specializing in serving small and medium-sized nonprofits doing impactful work in their communities. Bambu connects change-maker nonprofits with the funding to grow their work and make our world better. Our approach emphasizes targeted strategies, transparent communication, and financial stewardship, resulting in consistently increasing ROI for our clients.

Since our inception in 2014, Bambu has supported 60+ nonprofits partners, guiding them to raise tens of millions of dollars to fulfill their missions. On average, we offer our direct fundraising clients a 10x ROI on our services. We recognize that each nonprofit is unique, and our goal is to meet each new client where they are - tailoring fundraising strategies to match the specific needs, strengths, and focus of each client. Julie Selvaggi

Founder/Lead Strategist

A seasoned fundraiser with 23 years experience, Julie has worked deep in the trenches at nonprofits across the country and service areas. With tireless curiosity, vision and a problem-solving spirit, Julie brings a unique ability to see the big picture and identify successful fundraising strategies. For her dedication and excellence in fundraising, Julie received the 2023 Outstanding Fundraising Professional of the Year award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals - Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter.

Julie is particularly passionate about efficiency and collaboration throughout the nonprofit sector, always seeking to find how we can effectively leverage our collective resources to solve society's most pressing systemic problems. With Bachelor's and Master's degrees in film, Julie has always approached her nonprofit work with an even balance of art and science. If you're looking to partner with someone who can appreciate your unique needs and tailor a comprehensive strategic plan to advance your mission, she's your woman! Julie lives with her husband and two kiddos in Pittsburgh.

Kelsey Johnson, CFRE

Lead Strategist

Kelsey Johnson has worked in nonprofit fundraising and communications for 20+ years. She can pitch a great media story, tee up a home run individual giving campaign, elevate your organization’s publications to the big leagues – and write a compelling, concise proposal to wow even the most exacting funders. Kelsey brings sharp wit, sophistication, and patience to all of her projects. She’s the lady you want to guide wordsmithing and relationship building. Kelsey is also most comfortable in front of a crowd, sharing her fundraising wisdom and facilitating important conversations. Kelso lives in Boca Raton with her husband, daughter and several other animals.

Karen Ann Williams, CFRE

Director of Operations

With 23 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, Julie Selvaggi brings a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective to her role. Her tireless curiosity, visionary thinking, and problem-solving skills enable her to develop effective fundraising strategies. Julie's dedication and excellence in the field earned her the 2023 Outstanding Fundraising Professional of the Year award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals - Fort Lauderdale/Broward Chapter. Julie is passionate about efficiency and collaboration and approaches her work with a blend of art and science. She resides in Pittsburgh with her family.

Bambu works in occasional partnership with the brilliant folks at Take Two Services to tackle important projects and raise critical funding. Together we have worked on projects ranging from community development in India, legal justice advocacy work and even helped to build a Women’s Leadership Program at an esteemed university. Take Two has a lock on NYC area funding and they are our go-tos for all program expansion projects up north.

Visual Storytelling

We love partnering with Kerstin Vogdes Diehn and her graphic design company 501c Design when clients need some pizzazz to brighten up their collateral. She's worked with dozens of nonprofits and knows how to communicate a mission beautifully! From logo design, print collateral, editorial design, annual report design, large-format exhibit and tradeshow graphics, and even websites, Kerstin is our go-to for all things visual.
